WINTER IS HERE...
Below are a few tips to help you prepare your home for winter months.
Winterizing your roof needs to take some priority because once the snow starts to fall, it becomes more difficult to replace.
CHECK THE ROOF LINES
Take a walk around your home and look for straight lines. Any sign of sagging, dipping or curving should be investicated.
During winter, your roof will need to withstand heavy rain and snowfall that will worsen any issues you may be able to visbly see.
CHECK YOUR ATTIC FOR ANY SIGNS OF DAMPNESS OR WATER
Haven't been to the attic in a while. Now would be the time to pay it a visit. Signs of leaking will appear as spots on the walls or roof. Any puddles of water are clear evidence of water damage.
LOOK FOR DEBRIS - AND REMOVE IT
It is common to see twigs, leave and other debris. If debris is left on your roof all winter, it will become waterlooged and just a soggy mess. If you get to it early enough, it is very easy to remove with a leaf blower or your hands.
CLEAN OUT THOSE GUTTERS
Clean out your gutters completely to preent winter clogs. Throughout the winter, you will have snowmelt and if you were located in the Pittsburgh area in the last couple of years, you know how much rain we can get through the winter.
LOW HANGING BRANCHES
Build up of snow will sag those branches over your home even further. Do yourself a favor and get rid of those low hanging branches to avoid moisture buildup on your roof as well as give you peace of mind that your roof is safe through the winter.
